Gannett and Tronc are said to be in “active talks” over a potential merger.
Gannett has a deal worth $673 million on the table. Tronc(formerly Tribune Publishing) is said to have dropped its “fierce opposition” to the offer.
Tronc owns the Hartford Courant.
