Anchor/reporter for FOX61 and East Hartford native Carmen Chau detailed how she is adapting to changes in TV news amid COVID-19 in a recent Journal Inquirer profile. Chau’s story was written by JI reporter and TV/Radio editor Matt Buckler.

Excerpt from Chau’s profile in the Inquirer:

“If this threat took place in the ‘80s, I don’t know if we could have handled it,” Chau said, but thanks to modern technology, she is still able to do a thorough job.

Anchoring, meanwhile, presents different job tweaks. Instead of sitting at the anchor desk inside the studio, Chau sits in her living room.

“You miss being in the studio, where you have access to a lot of resources,” Chau said. “You have a floor director, a prompter person, producer — multiple people helping you. At home, you really have to be on your toes a lot more.”

That’s because she’s not just the anchor, she’s also the crew.
