Al Primo, the inventor of the Eyewitness News format, on set news anchor interaction, “happy talk,” and the discoverer of Geraldo Rivera, is dead at age 87.
He died at the end of last week at his home in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. Primo launched the “Eyewitness News” concept at KYW in Philadelphia and it quickly swept across local stations throughout the country.
If you are in local TV news today, much of what you do and how you do it originated with Primo.
