The number of AM radio stations in the country continues to decline while the number of FM translator and booster stations is going up.

The FCC released its latest station list this week. It shows the number of AM stations has declined in every quarter since last year. As recently as 25 years ago legacy AM stations in large and small markets across the country held a distinct position in the local news competition.
