A huge Connecticut connection to the Golden State Warriors that we didn’t know about.
The team’s play by play man is Tim Roye, originally from the Poquonock section of Windsor.
He’s been on WTIC 1080’s sports program in the past and will be on again Thursday at 3:34p.m. to talk about the Warriors NBA championship win. The first in 40 years for the franchise.
Roye has also done TV play by play work for the Oakland A’s.
H/T – Joe D’Ambrosio.
Related: In 1979 a tornado hit the Poquonock section of Windsor devastating the area. The storm hit just a few weeks after WFSB acquired the first news helicopter in the Connecticut market. Station officials, who were initially criticized in the press for deploying an unnecessary news toy, pointed to their enhanced tornado coverage to justify the launch of Sky 3.
