Former NBC News and ABC News correspondent, anchor, and interviewer Barbara Walters is dead. She was 93.
Her career covered five decades and included many awards. Her interviewing style was admired, mocked, and emulated by many. Even today, when interview subjects begin to cry while answering questions they’ll often say, “What, is this a Barbara Walters interview?”
In 1997, after stepping away from her reporting and anchoring duties with ABC, she created The View, a daytime talk show that has become an important barometer of the national mood.
