Bernard Kalb, the elder of two brothers known for their foreign policy reporting, devotion to journalism, high standards, and sartorial splendor is dead at age 100.

His younger brother Marvin said his brother died due to complications from a recent fall.

Bernard worked for the New York Times, CBS, NBC, and was the founding anchor of Reliable Sources on CNN. He left journalism for a time to serve as a spokesman for the U.S. State Department. He resigned from the State Department in protest over a disinformation campaign against Libya.
