It will be a big day for the defense of the news media on Capitol Hill today as Arizona Republican Senator Jeff Flake gives a floor speech that will be critical of President Trump for his attacks on the press.
The speech by Flake comes the same day Arizona’s senior senator, John McCain, authored an op-ed on the same subject in the Washington Post. Today’s defense of the press comes as President Trump threatens to hand out “fake news awards” and one day after he ordered a CNN reporter out of an Oval Office photo op with the simple utterance, “Out!,” along with a finger pointed toward the door.
