Bernard Kavaler has put together an excellent historical wrap up of the Blizzard of ’78 on his site Connecticut by the Numbers.
It includes a link to a CPTV documentary and a report from NBC News. Were reports from the field back then notably more restrained, or is the difference simply the result of technology that didn’t allow for standing in the snow with a yard stick?
The storm is notable in Connecticut political history for having largely made the reputation of Governor Ella Grasso when she closed the state’s roads to hasten the clean up.
H/T Bernard.
