Bob Edwards, the original and long-time host of Morning Edition on NPR is dead. He was 76.
Edwards hosted the signature morning program for nearly 25 years before being let go in 2004. He left the network rather than take a role as a senior correspondent. Soon after leaving NPR he began a show on satellite radio.
Edwards is viewed as one of the most influential personalities behind the sound and NPR approach to news story-telling.
