Washington Post reporter Robert Costa is getting lots of credit for being in the right place at the right time last Thursday night.
Less than 24 hours before House Speaker John Boehner announced his intention to resign, Costa and a reporter from Politico decided to stake him out as he was leaving the Capitol for the day.
They ended up getting a special private moment with the Speaker that may have foreshadowed Friday’s announcement. Costa explained the scene in detail in a reporter’s notebook in Friday morning’s Post.
