Senator Dodd is making his announcement at his East Haddam home at 12 noon.

The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza broke the news that he will not seek re-election late Tuesday night.

Politico had it on its web site soon thereafter.

(The Post’s Cillizza is originally from Marlborough, Connecticut and was Dennis House’s guest on WFSB’s Face the State two weeks ago).

  1. When I got up this morning FOXCT was breaking the news at 4:30 a.m. They were the first local station to break it – by default I suppose. I then went to CNN, CNNInternational (they usually cover breaking news when the folks in Atlanta are still asleep), MSNBC, and FOXNews. No one had anything on the story – just replays of the evening news-talk shows from the night before. I was really disappointed there was nothing on the so-called “24 Hour NewsChannels” until after 6 a.m.

  2. When I got up this morning around 6, the Courant site did have a story, but it didn’t carry a byline and it looked to be all or partly wire copy. Either way, it wasn’t the Courant’s finest hour. They should have broken this story.
