It’s hard to fathom, but the widely-loved Brian Liburd is no longer with us. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor a few weeks ago and died Friday after a 21-hour surgery. He and his wife, Cindy,  Senior Producer at CTN, met as  WFSBer’s. More recently Brian was a producer at ESPN. CIndy also worked at WVIT at one time.
When we think of Brian we’ll remember the laughter. He was smart, kind, and had the world’s best sense of humor. The comments on his Facebook page demonstrate how many people loved him.
We will post funeral arrangements and most importantly the information about a fund that is being set up to support Brian and Cindy’s two children, Trey and Riley.
We’ll miss you, big guy.

  1. As we were both big hockey fans, I’ll always remember the hysterical laughter on Brian’s face when he reported to me that Eric Lindros was traded to my team, the Flyers…..and the Rangers at the same time by Quebec. I still can picture him with the wire copy in the door of the old tape room at Broadcast House, waving it around. anxiously waiting to share the news. Sorry to hear of his passing, I hadn’t seen him in a long time, but he was a good colleague and friend at WFSB.

  2. It’s hard to find words for your feelings when a person as cool and as grounded as Brian leaves us. He was a gentleman first and foremost.
His greatest gift was a huge laugh and and an even bigger smile every time you were with him. I had the pleasure of knowing him in high school way back when and as a client for the last several years. I never got to meet his family, but i am very certain he was a fantastic husband and an even better father. Whether you believe in heaven or not, I’m convinced God was looking for someone to level the playing field and chose Brian to quarterback his offense.
    He will be greatly missed

  3. I remember Brian when he came to WFSB as a sports intern. What a smile and personality. What a shock as I read this. Cindy, we’ve worked together at 3 and after….my heart goes out to you and the kids.

  4. I will never forget Brian’s deep, rich voice, his great laugh, and sharp sense of humor. It was a privilege to work with him, and to see his and Cindy’s relationship blossom in a newsroom, of all places. Thoughts and prayers to Cindy and family. My heart hurts for you all.

  5. I was extremely saddened to hear the news on Monday of Brian’s passing. We worked together at ESPN for the past 15 or so yrs & even though we worked in different departments, we saw each other every couple of months. I always got a big kick out of seeing him because he was never in a bad mood, always greeted you with a big smile & Hello & always wanted to talk about how things were going. We talked about work, our kids, what was going on in sports & what we were both working on. He was truly one of the guys that you could always count on to make you smile. He will be missed by his family & friends, but we will never forget The Burd….
