It appears as though the New Britain Herald and Bristol Press have been saved. An offer to buy the two papers has been accepted. It was also refreshing to hear that the new owner, Michael Schroeder of Central Connecticut Communications, wants to live in Bristol and be a part of the community. This act should help in stabilizing the two papers in the future.
In other print news, the Meriden Record-Journal has decided to sell its printing presses and use printers in Springfield as a cost cutting measure. This will result in layoffs for about 45 distribution workers. Wonder if any Record-Journal staffers know of any other cuts (perhaps editorial?) coming down the pike….?
