In a story you will see exclusively(and only) on The Laurel; we have learned the two-time Emmy nominated political discussion program known as CT Capitol Report, is returning to television next Sunday on WTNH.
The first episode of the show – a kind of McLaughlin Group without ties – will air on July 16th, following ABC’s This Week, at 10a.m.
The program will be hosted by Tom Dudchik, the owner and editor of CTCapitolReport.com which at last count had more views than McDonald’s has “hamburgers sold.”
This is another major move toward more local programming at WTNH since Rich Graziano returned to Connecticut to assume the role of general manager. You may remember the TV version of Capitol Report first aired on Fox 61 under Graziano’s tenure at that station. Next week, WTNH is also expected to soft launch its extended morning news block to include an extra hour of local news beginning at 9a.m. Other changes are rumored to be under consideration.
The Laurel first learned of a possible renewed partnership between Dudchik and Graziano a few weeks ago when the two were reported to be having lunch near News 8’s Elm St. headquarters. It should also be noted a locally produced Sunday morning political talk show has long been a never-realized goal of several previous News 8 management teams.
