The leader of the Connecticut Republican Party is playing down reports that an effort is underway to recruit former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson to run for the U.S. Senate in Connecticut.
Carlson is from Greenwich and has risen to prominence as a potential leader after she filed a sexual harassment lawsuit last year that led to a major shake-up at Fox News. Since then she has speaking out on women’s issues in the news media, before Congress and in various other venues. A spokesman for Carslon played down the reports, but did not flatly deny them.
