After just a few months on the job as an early evening host for Fox News, Tucker Carlson, who attended Trinity College in Hartford, has been chosen to succeed Megyn Kelly at 9p.m.
He’ll start next week. Kelly’s last show is Friday. She has been hired by NBC to host a daytime program, still in development, and a Sunday magazine show.
“In less than two months, Tucker has taken cable news by storm with his spirited interviews and consistently strong performance,” said 21st Century Fox and Fox News executive chairman Rupert Murdoch, in a statement. “Viewers have overwhelmingly responded to the show and we look forward to him being a part of Fox News’ powerful primetime line-up.”
Martha MacCallum, a veteran of Fox News, will take over Carlson’s 7p.m. slot.
We have no doubt Carlson’s time at Trinity had an effect, if not a decisive influence, on his current success.
