CBS Evening News Goes in New Direction

Less than a week after Norah O’Donnell announced she is stepping down as anchor of the CBS Evening News after the election, CBS has announced how the program will change the next day.

The new CBS Evening News will be co-anchored by John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois. The program will use Lonnie Quinn as chief weather forecaster and Margaret Brennan, the host of Face the Nation will be a primary contributor. Both Quinn and Brennan are Connecticut natives.

The new evening news will take a different approach to content decisions; putting less emphasis on telling viewers – everything that happened today – and more emphasis on original reporting from CBS reporters based on their assigned beats. In other words, you will watch the CBS Evening News to learn things you don’t already know if you are a regular consumer of news throughout the day. At least that appears to be the hope.
