After almost 17 years Daryl Vallez, one of the best known news videographers in Connecticut, is leaving NBC CT to join the communications department at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Vallez has been NBC CT’s chief photographer and has covered some of the biggest stories in Connecticut over the last two decades. He has also worked with the station’s Troubleshooters Team.
Despite all the talk of the decline of journalism, and jobs associated with news gathering, the idea that a hospital would find it necessary to hire its own videographer shows journalism skills are transferable to other industries and that the need for Internet content is creating new opportunities.
