Little over one year ago we posted about a huge expansion at CNN as the company prepared to launch the streaming service CNN+. For a time, CNN was the place to go if you were beginning a career in journalism because hundreds of people were being hired. But as you know, a month after CNN+ launched the new ownership shut it down and the layoffs began.
Now, CNN president and Connecticut native Chris Licht has issued an internal memo alerting CNN employees to more layoffs by the end of the year. He says it is part of a return to the network’s core mission and a response to concerns about a shrinking global economy.
