Vernon’s Patch.com is reporting that the Hartford Courant’s free community papers will cease publication with the January 18 edition.
The string of local weeklies is the last vestige of the Reminder newspapers that started in Vernon in 1948 and eventually expanded to cover towns throughout central and north central Connecticut.
The Laurel has been unable to independently confirm the reporting by Patch.
