Less than 48 hours after President Biden withdrew from the race we are already familiar with the dozen or so top Democrats the national news media considers possible running mates for Vice President Kamala Harris.

The list is the same one used to speculate about who might have replaced Biden, before it became apparent Harris has all but wrapped up the nomination.

Monday night, appearing on NBC News Now, MSNBC host and Stamford, Connecticut native Jen Psaki added Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy to the possible VP list.

Psaki told host Tom Llamas that Murphy would bring important foreign policy knowledge to the table and an ability to campaign and raise money on his own. It is also true that a Harris/Murphy ticket would ensure Democrats can campaign as a new generation of leaders.

In recent decades, senators from Connecticut have often been mentioned as possible VP picks; including Senator Chris Dodd and the late Senator Joseph Lieberman – who was on the ticket with Al Gore in 2000 and was seriously considered as a pick by John McCain in 2008.
