One Connecticut commentator is not sad to see the recent downturn in Connecticut’s press rooms. D. Dowd Muska charges that cutbacks at newspapers can provide a great opportunity for Connecticut conservatives. Though his argument has a few holes (cutbacks at newspapers will lead to inferior local and feature reporting) it is certainly an interesting argument and worthy of serious debate.
However, some of Muska’s diatribe may have gone too far. For example, he argues that the majority of state capitol reporters are “are content to be stenographers for the power elite.” Ouch!
