The New England Newspaper and Press Association has named the Hartford Courant its 2017 Newspaper of the Year in both the daily and Sunday edition categories.
The news comes as the Courant faces new competition from Hearst Connecticut Media which appears to be circling the nation’s oldest continuously publishing paper through the acquisition of smaller properties abutting the Courant’s dominant coverage area.
