CRN International says it will end its 44 year old Connecticut radio news service at the end of this year’s legislative session.
Network President Barry Berman said in a statement that deregulation of the broadcast industry means most radio stations are not covering news as they once did so the need for the service has diminished.
There is no immediate word on the fate of Steve Kotchko, the dean of the capitol press corps, who has covered every administration since Governor Grasso, or long-time reporter Mark Sims. CRN said it will continue to produce the weekly interview program known as Dialogue.
