Yesterday marked the 129th meeting of the Crocodile Club — a long-running luncheon that has traditionally attracted the top politicians in the state. WTIC’s Ray Dunaway was the emcee of the event and, as is customary, gave each major political candidate an opportunity to speak to the crowd of 400. The speeches, however, are more Friars Club Roast than stump speech.
As for press, all major media outlets had a presence as well as the state’s major political blogs and online newspapers. There must have been two dozen cameras roaming the hall between the TV reporters, print photogs and campaign trackers.
It is a great tradition and we are happy to see it back.
Some coverage of the event can be found here, here, here and here.
