CT-N Could Go Dark

One of the cuts made in the budget passed this week by the state legislature reduces funding to the public affairs network known as CT-N by 50%.

The move comes at the same time that the network has been locked in a low level tug of war with legislative leaders and legislative management about control of programming. The Connecticut Public Affairs Network, which manages CT-N, has a contract to continue its services through October 31. It is possible that after that point the channel may go dark.

Also zeroed out in the most recent budget were bond funds scheduled to be used to update the network’s equipment.
