The US Women’s Soccer Team is headed to the Women’s World Cup Final, thanks in large part to Connecticut’s own, Alyssa Naeher, who made the clutchest of saves on an England penalty kick late in today’s semi-final match to preserve a 2-1 win. Penalty kicks are exceedingly difficult to save, but Naeher of Stratford guessed correctly on the kick and stopped what would have been a game tying goal. Congratulations to Alyssa and the rest of the US Women, who’ve played an outstanding tournament. Tune in on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. on Fox61 to watch the US take on either Sweden or the Netherlands in the final. GO USA!!
