Here are the major news updates from today:
- Governor Lamont announced a “step up” in the state’s enforcement of social distancing. The policy is being called “Stay Safe, Stay at Home.” The governor ordered all non-essential businesses to close “for the foreseeable future.”
- Gov. Lamont asked the private sector to help supply the state with personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Jackson Laboratory in Farmington announced yesterday that it will begin diagnostic COVID19 testing next week in an effort to help the state ramp up testing and learn more about the nature of the new coronavirus.
- Per Gov. Lamont’s order, all salons and tattoo and piercing parlors will close at 8 p.m. today.
- As announced yesterday, the state’s presidential primary has been rescheduled for June 2.
- Access Health CT added a special enrollment period for those uninsured that began yesterday and continues until April 2. Coverage begins April 1.
- First full day of the closure of all indoor portions of large retail shopping malls, amusement parks and bowling alleys.
