Former Hartford Courant reporter Deborah Petersen has taken over as editor in chief of the San Francisco Examiner newspaper. The title “editor in chief” suggests there is no one in the newsroom with greater authority.
The Examiner has been publishing since 1863 and has been known as the “Monarch of the Dailies.” Petersen is married to former Courant reporter Mike Swift. According to their social media accounts they recently completed a trip through the lesser traveled regions of Russia, including Siberia.
No one has explained how the couple got there or what they were seeking at that altitude.*
