Longtime Norwich Bulletin reporter Don Bond has died at age 70. Last week he collapsed while covering a meeting in Sterling and never regained consciousness.
Bond, a Plainfield resident, spent the bulk of his 50-year career covering the police and fire beat in Windham County, regularly driving out to crime and accident scenes as recently as this year. He was a familiar presence at northeastern police stations, firehouses, town halls and schools. Even after he retired, he continued to work as a freelancer right up until his death.
A celebration of his life will take place July 7, 2 pm at the Central Village Fire station, 53 Black Hill Road, Plainfield.
