As The Laurel first reported several months ago, NBC CT is making a substantial commitment to using drones to enhance the station’s aerial news coverage of the state.
The station has announced a partnership with PhotoFlight Aerial Media that will deploy “a fleet” of drones to provide coverage of spot news, weather shots and other bird’s eye visuals. For marketing purposes, NBC CT is calling the project DroneRanger.
The exact number of drones the station is deploying has not been revealed, presumably to maintain the element of surprise.
