Election night coverage in Connecticut was interrupted to report the death of long-time radio personality Brad Davis, who died at the Rocky Hill Veterans’ Home at age 87.

But as Davis himself would say the show must go on and in many ways it was a historic night.

Caroline Simmons was elected as mayor of Stamford in Connecticut’s most closely watched race. In the end, Bobby Valentine learned not to underestimate a “35 year old girl.”

In Boston, Michelle Wu won a landslide victory over her opponent to become the first woman and first Asian American elected to lead that city.

Republican Glenn Youngkin won the governor’s race in Virginia setting off alarm bells nationally for Democrats.

As of this writing, the New Jersey governor’s race is too close to call.

In Buffalo, Mayor Byron Brown appears to have defeated his Democratic Socialist challenger after waging a successful write-in campaign.

In Minneapolis, voters rejected a ballot measure to replace the police department with a Department of Public Safety.

In New York, Eric Adams was elected as expected after winning the Democratic primary earlier this year.

Former state Representative and likely candidate for governor Themis Klarides, using an at-home test, tested positive for Covid-19 the day before Election Day and pulled herself off the campaign trail as she waits for confirmation of her results. She is fully vaccinated.
