After 42 years on the air, John Elliott retired Tuesday from WTIC-FM, where he has been the morning newscaster for most of the past four decades.
As many Laurel readers know, broadcasting – whether TV or radio – is not known as a field of long careers in one location. Every once in a while however someone like Elliott flies under the radar of ratings concerns, format changes and management whims to make a full career at one place on the dial.
Usually in those cases it is a matter of delivering a consistent high quality product every day – every time the mic switch flips and you begin your broadcast. Consistently good. Consistently professional. Consistent high standards. That’s how John Elliott made it from back there in 1976 to here.
