We at The Laurel have a pet peeve (okay, we have many, but here’s one): when broadcasters put the emphasis on the “New” in “New Haven” (when of course it should be “New HAY-ven”). Fortunately, the state’s two most recent on-air hires won’t be making that mistake. We mentioned last week that FoxCT’s new weekend morning meteorologist Dan Amarante is a local guy from Cheshire, but we didn’t know till reading today’s New Haven Register that new weekend morning anchor Audrey Kuchen is also from the Greater New Haven area.
I have that same pet peeve! That and the way announcers (usually ESPN) pronounce Quinnipiac. They usually say Qui-ni-PEE-ac. It’s Qui-ni-pee-AC!
And, it is pronounced “YALE” as written; not “YAOW”!
was audrey already pulled? She wasn’t on today??
Way cool! Some very valid points! I appreciate you penning this
article plus the rest of the site is very good.
