WTNH Reporter Erin Logan has been named weekend anchor. Congrats to her – though we’re wondering what this means for market veteran Don Lark who has been anchoring weekends for almost two years?

  1. Unfortunately more people across the nation now know Erin as “the reporter who grabbed little kids and shoved a mic in their faces minutes after they escaped Sandy Hook Elementary School.” I remember her practically leading one little girl’s answers by asking “was it so scary and everyone was so scared?” or something like that. I heard & read a lot of backlash in response to that specific interview. She certainly was not alone in interviewing children that day, but she was one of the first to do it in the immediate aftermath. Still not sure how I feel about that.

  2. How she handled the day in Newtown is probably why she got this promotion. Just because you may not allow your child to share their story don’t assume that child’s parent objected. Those first reports were the most accurate of the day until the press conference. Erin and all the other local reporters did an honorable job and continued to throughout the coverage.

  3. I haven’t read anything but good comments concrning Erin’s reporting the day of the shooting and afterwards, but I don’t remember seeing anything where people complained about how she handled talking to that little girl. I thought she and all the local reporters did a commendable job. Won’t comment on the national vultures though. She’s a great choice for the weekend anchor position, but I’ll be sad to see Don Lark replaced. I wonder what happened with him.

  4. The reason you haven’t read complaints about that interview that mention her by name is because early on in the coverage she was misidentified as a CNN reporter. I’m guessing this is due to the fact her report must have gotten picked up by the network. Perhaps you haven’t personally seen the backlash to that interview but I certainly did, on news forums and other web sites. The University of Florida nutty professor that’s in the news right now even included a transcript of that specific interview (again misidentifying her as a nameless CNN reporter) in one of his latest blog posts suggesting parts of the tragedy & subsequent coverage were “staged.” LET ME BE CLEAR, I think that guy is a total looney tune and in NO WAY do I endorse his paranoid conspiracy theories. Only bringing it up as an example of how that specific report has become somewhat infamous for certain reasons. That’s all. I agree the rest of her coverage was pretty solid but that part clearly made some people uncomfortable.
