Bristol-based ESPN has cut ties with broadcaster Ron Franklin after he called sideline reporter Jeanine Edwards “sweet baby” and an expletive during a pre-game production meeting.
According to the Washington Post, Franklin responded testily on Friday when Edwards tried to join a conversation he was having with two other male sportscasters hours before going on the air. Franklin rebuffed Edwards, calling her “sweet baby.” When Edwards replied that she didn’t appreciate being addressed that way, he responded, “Okay, then, [expletive].”
Franklin had worked at the network for 24 years.
Wow, it’s crazy that he could lose a 24 career in the span of thirty seconds. I’m sure ESPN will be better off.
