Three news organizations in Connecticut received grants of up to $5,000 from Facebook for local COVID-19 news coverage: The CT Mirror, the Valley Independent Sentinel and the Record-Journal.
The application period was from March 17 until $1 million had been awarded.
“The applications selected to receive a Grant by the Program Entities will receive grants up to $5,000 USD, with each Grant value and exact number of Grants awarded determined in Program Entities’ sole discretion, up to a total of $1,000,000 USD for the entire Grant Program,” according to the Facebook Journalism Project site.
