According to the influential website Connecticut by the Numbers, the FCC has lifted its enforcement hold against WTIC-AM and will now consider the station’s application for license renewal.

The decision by the FCC comes just a few days after former afternoon host John Rowland, the former governor of Connecticut, lost an appeal to overturn his conviction in a campaign finance case. It has never been clear if the Rowland matter is connected to the FCC’s enforcement hold against WTIC, but many have speculated Rowland’s association with the station was a key issue. The hold has been in place for more than two years.
