NPR aired a story this week about efforts by the new publisher of the Atlanta Journal Constitution to transform the paper into an essential news organization for this century.
Whether he succeeds can only be answered over time, but it is hard to argue with the approach. The reason many established journalism brands fail is because they refuse to separate themselves from the way things have always been done. If the AJC project works it will show that any existing brand can succeed in the news business if that brand is willing to let go of past delivery systems and embrace new ones.
