I never like to bury the lead so here it is: I am leaving WNYT. On Monday I start a Master’s degree program at Quinnipiac University in Interactive Communication. I don’t want to be a “news dinosaur” fighting the changes that our industry is now going through. I hope my program will help me fully embrace new media because that’s where journalism is going–at a furious pace. It’s time for me to get out in front of it. After discussing things with Steve, my last day is today. Thanks to everyone throughout the building. TV is a team sport and it takes people from every department to make it work. To the News staff I say keep pushing yourselves to excellence. Challenge yourselves every day to craft that magical phrase or shoot that revealing image.
