The Laurel has learned Fox 61 will open a New Haven bureau on the campus of the University of New Haven.
The move allows for new interaction between the Fox 61 newsroom and the school’s growing media studies department. Fox 61 has maintained a New Haven bureau for several years, but this decision offers a new opportunity to partner with an institution of higher education. From the school’s news release:
“The more exposure our students have to the real world of 24-7 news, the better their preparation for jobs after graduation will be,” said Thomas Garrett, associate professor and head of the Communications, Film, and Media Studies Department. “
