As reported first on The Laurel, WTNH News 8 in New Haven has confirmed the hiring of veteran meteorologist Joe Furey. He will begin work as the station’s co-chief meteorologist on October 2.
Rumors about a move by Furey to News 8 have been circulating for weeks following his departure from Fox 61. Others noticed his headshot was missing from the Hartford Courant’s weather page without explanation.
As co-chief meteorologist, Furey will presumably share control over use of the News 8 mobile weather unit. Our featured image on this post is the first known photograph of Furey in his new surroundings.
