The new owner of the New Haven Register is promising to hire ten new reporters, expand local coverage and expand capitol coverage.
Hearst Corporation President Mark Aldam made the comments in an interview with the New Haven Independent the day after Hearst CT announced its acquisition of the Register, the Middletown Press, the Torrington Register-Citizen, Connecticut Magazine and eight weeklies.
Some in the New Haven newsroom are reportedly skeptical, but hopeful.
