We begin with follow up on a story we told you about last month…
UConn basketball player Paige Bueckers has moved to trademark her nickname “Paige Buckets” as the NCAA enters the “name, image, and likeness” era. New rules mean college players, previously banned from doing so, will be allowed to make money by selling the rights to the name, image or likeness for marketing purposes. Bueckers has almost 1 million followers on Instagram and more than 300,000 on Tik Tok and that’s an audience worth paying for.
Give some credit to CNN and its media reporter Brian Stelter for directly taking on the issue of the relationship between CNN anchor Chris Cuomo and his brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Stelter wrote a long analysis about the ethical dilemma faced by CNN and Chris Cuomo following a report accusing Andrew of serial sexual harassment in the workplace. The Stelter report comes as pressure mounts for Andrew Cuomo to resign. The pressure for CNN to say more about Chris Cuomo’s future with the network will likely increase over the coming weeks, particularly if Andrew resists calls to step down and fights impeachment.
