The prior restraint case related to a child custody matter in New Britain Superior Court is headed to the state Supreme Court.
Connecticut’s highest court has agreed to hear arguments on whether a judge can bar the news media from publishing the identity of the children involved in the dispute. A New Britain judge issued the ruling last week. Several news media outlets quickly banded together to appeal the ruling.
The judge is reconsidering his decision after hearing arguments Monday. He is expected to issue a written decision, but the Supreme Court will also consider the issues raised by the earlier lower court ruling ruling.
