Erica Hill, a native of Clinton, Connecticut, is giving up her duties as co-host of Weekend Today. The announcement was made Sunday.
Hill has increasingly been serving as a midday host of weekday news hours on MSNBC and will continue to do so. She is also a contributing reporter to NBC Nightly News.
The move by Hill is part of an effort by MSNBC to more closely align with NBC News as the cable network shifts away from its years long experiment in programming aimed at a politically left-leaning news audience.
There is no doubt that when Hill, Kate Snow, Brian Williams, Chuck Todd, Andrea Mitchell and Chris Jansing are at the anchor desk – it gives the MSNBC presentation added gravitas.
