Entercom CEO and chairman David Field recently announced furloughs, layoffs and salary cuts at radio stations in the coming days.
Entercom is the second largest radio company in the country and owns four radio stations in Connecticut: WTIC 1080-AM, 96.5 TIC FM, HOT 93.7 (WZMX-FM) and LITE 100.5 (WRCH-FM).
There have already been changes reported in Buffalo and Boston. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Entercom employees “earning more than $50,000 a year would see their salaries reduced by 10% to 20%.”
This unfortunate news comes as many news organizations, large and small, are experiencing steep declines in ad revenue due to the coronavirus pandemic.
