An update on the coming changes at Politico puts a sharper focus on the future of former Connecticut capitol reporter Mike Allen.
Last week it was reported several top Politico personalities, including co-founder Jim VandeHei, will be leaving the publication by the end of the month. Previously it was reported he and others would stay on until after the presidential election. Allen is staying on his originally announced schedule of a post election departure.
What is clear – in the latest round of reporting on the story – is that VandeHei will be starting a new news gathering organization and that his longtime colleague Allen will be joining him once he leaves Politico. In addition to work at Time magazine and the Washington Post, Allen spent time as the New York Times’ state capitol based Connecticut reporter.
