ICYMI…George Bodenheimer, the former president of ESPN in Bristol, is out with a new book entitled Every Town Is a Sports Town. The book covers his long career at ESPN that in true American style began in the mailroom. The “there from the beginning” pattern of career development is also the general story behind many of the now household names of ESPN.

“Speaking of sports”(a George Ehrlich reference 15:40), the Washington Post this week had a great profile of British reporter Andrew Jennings, who may be as responsible as anyone for the fall of Sepp Blatter and the general corruption investigation of FIFA. The story is full of great insight, quotes and journalistic inspiration. Here’s an example:

“I know that they are criminal scum, and I’ve known it for years,” he(Jennings) said. “And that is a thoughtful summation. That is not an insult. That is not throwing about wild words.”

Spotted – Fred Lucas, formerly of the Danbury News-Times, rose for the final questions put to Josh Earnest during Tuesday’s White House press briefing. Lucas, who now writes for The Blaze, questioned Earnest about the Affordable Care Act and a recent Supreme Court ruling involving Abercrombie and Fitch.
